Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
In the future, we’ll all salute with air guitar. That’s just one of the many takeaways from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. In what is more a love letter to rock music than a time travel comedy, this 1989 film stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as two wanna-be rock stars who have to pass History in order to save the future. Why? Because songs by the Wyld Stallyns (Bill and Ted’s band) bring piece and prosperity to the planet Earth. If they fail History, they’ll be separated.
So with the help of their future guide Rufus (George Carlin) and their very own TARDIS, Bill and Ted travel through time, pick-up a few historical figures (Napoleon, Beethoven, Lincoln, Joan of Arc, Genghis Khan, Freud, Billy the Kid, and “So-crates”), and put on a most excellent oral presentation.
Bill and Ted also learn what an “iron maiden” really is, and it’s bogus.
