Back to the Future

1985

During the Reagan years, filmmakers like John Carpenter and Paul Verhoeven looked forward to what a post-1980s world would look like... and it wasn’t pretty. But not Robert Zemeckis. He sent us back to the 1950s with Marty McFly.

Back to the Future, produced by Steven Spielberg, may be a blast from the past today, but even after all these years this timeless adventure in time-travel paradoxes is as thrilling as the day it was released. Maybe it’s because the children of every generation are charged with fixing the mistakes of their parents? Nah, we just like to see a DeLorean shoot through the dimensions of time.

It’s okay to cheer when... George McFly punches Biff in the face outside of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.
